My blacksmithing interest started over 20 years ago in Memphis, Tennessee, home to the International Metal Museum. I was fortunate to take a class there, and from then on, it's been all metal. I completed a degree in welding and went on to specialize in custom lighting production and design. This was followed by architectural design work, including furniture, sculpture, railings, and the like.
In 2014, my family and I moved to Seattle, where we have been ever since. Over the last decade, I have forged new friendships and connections in the Pacific Northwest blacksmithing community. I continue my work in custom design and have expanded my practice to include axe making and education. I have taught public and private classes, including courses at Pratt Fine Art Institute. My work has been displayed locally and internationally, including at local small galleries, the now closed Bellevue Art Museum, North Hälsingland International Metal Art Exhibition in Sweden, and the Hefaiston blacksmithing convention in the Czech Republic.
After spending some time in Sweden furthering my knowledge in axe making, I was invited to join the North Hälsingland Blacksmithing Guild as a working member. I remain active in international and local blacksmithing communities to stay connected and am always looking to build upon my skills. I feel strongly that the art of blacksmithing is invaluable. It is a community that has given me much, and I strive to show my gratitude through my work, which is created to last a lifetime.
