Classes

 Blacksmithing and education go hand in hand. Whether learning the physical act of forging or about process and design, there is always more to discover. In my twenty three years of forging and teaching, I have learned a lot about how to get the best out of each student. It takes an individual approach, so I keep my classes small, 1- 4 students at a time, ensuring plenty of 1:1 instruction time.  The world of metal is expansive. There is absolutely something for everyone. My approach to teaching starts with conversation and goal setting, then we see where it takes us. 

I offer intro to forging classes as well as custom tailored classes to suit your goals. Whether that is a one time session to try something new, goal oriented sessions with a specific end product in mind,  or advanced classes to support pursuing  a new career through forging, we have you covered at Iron J. Forge. Example ideas for goal oriented classes include knives, axes, curtain rods, fire tools, and other home decor and gifts. Rates are determined per class once curriculum is agreed upon. As a reference, a 6-8 hour custom class might run approximately $400 depending on the subject matter and materials.
